MEXICO CUSTOMS REGULATION

To import household goods and personal effects free of duty and taxes, they must be used for at least six months, consist of: personal effects and furniture exclusive for the day to day use of a single family, clothing, books, bookcases, art and scientific work that are not complete collections for trade shows, scientific instruments and tools of workers, artisans,- etc. whenever they are necessary for the conduction of their trade or profession. The scientific instruments and tools should not be all the equipment needed to set laboratories, shops or factories. Not considered housebald goods are: Plants, liquors, wines, pantry, firearms, ammunition, explosives, drugs, pornographic material, cars, matorcycles, boats, stuffed animals or fish. lf customer is in doubt, please contact us for specific information. DUTIABLE GOODS All new items subject to duties and taxes and a purchase invoice is required by mexican customs authorities (depending on port of entry tax ID of seller might be required). Taxes to be paid vary according to item classification by customs and country of origin RESTRICTED ITEMS Plants, liquors, wines, pantry, firearms, ammunition, explosives, drugs, pornographic material, cars, matorcycles, boats, golf carts and any kind, stuffed animals or fish. lf customer is in doubt, please contact us for specific information CUSTOMS INSPECTIONS All household and personal effects shipments 100% inspected. This holds true for most ports of entry with the exception of Laredo, TX, where shipments might be lightly or fully inspected. CONIFER WOOD REGULATIONS All household goods shipments clearing customs at ocean ports of entry are fumigated. On September 16, 2005 all shipments clearing customs at ground, ocean and air ports of entry must bear heat treated seal. If not they will be fumigated at shipper's expense. Charges for this service not yet determined. ESTIMATED TIME FOR NORMAL CUSTOMS CLEARANCE FOR SHIPMENTS ARRIVING BY a) Ground: 3 to 5 working days b) Ocean: 7 to 10 working days c) Air: 2 to 4 working days DOCUMENTS NEEDED l) Returning Mexican Citizens: Customer must show proof of residence outside of Mexico for at least two years, to Mexican consulate in origin city, as requisite for issuing household goods and personal effects visa. a) Copy of passport b) Visaed Spanish inventory by Mexican Consulate at city of origin (Consularized inventory) c) Letter declaring value of shipment and that no prohibited items are being brought (Ask us for form letter) d) Destination address in Mexico ll) FM-3 Visa Holders a) Copy of FM-3 visa* b) Copy of Passport c) Signed original and two copies of typewritten inventory in Spanish with brand, model end serial number on major electrical appliances d) Letter declaring value of shipment and that no prohibited items are brought (Ask us for form letter) e) Letter declaring that all imported items in shipment will be brought out of Mexico f) Shipper's address in Mexico as well as address in country of origin * All household goods and personal effects shipments clearing customs at following ports of entry require a mexican consularized inventory: Otay Mesa, CA; Calexico, CA; Nogales, AZ. Shipments arriving to major ports of entry like Laredo, TX; El Paso, TX; Veracruz, Tampico and Manzanillo do not require a consularized inventory for FM3 visa holders. We request that if thre is any doubt to consult with us. lll) FM-2 Visa Holders Regulations same as for FM3 visa holders and not having imported previous household goods and personal effects shipments lV) Foreign Diplomats a) Diplomatic Franchise obtained by embassy in Mexico City from customs authorities b) lnventory in Spanish c) Copy of Diplomatic Passport d) Shipper's address in Mexico as well as address in country of origin V) Mexican Citizen Returning with Diplomatic Status (Advise customer that shipment is subject to customs inspections and that no prohibited items should accompany shipment) a) Special franchise obtained from customs by Mexican Foreign Ministry b) Spanish inventory c) Photocopy of Diplomatic Passport d) Letter declaring value of shipment and that no prohibited items are brought (Ask us for form letter) e) Shipper's address in Mexico as well as address in country of origin AUTOMOBILES Automobiles may be imported temporarily by en FM-2 or FM-3 visa holder. The customer must personally drive it through mexican customs with required documents to obtain a temporary permit at this time of crossing. Vehicie authorization is normally issued for the duration of visa. Mexican citizens may only bring automobiles into Mexico as a tourist by obtaining the appropriate permit that is issued for not over six months.
